The Dog Days of Summer

Doesn’t this sweet image bring back memories of the soft gentler times of lazy hot dog days of summer afternoons? Walking barefoot in the cool grass, wading in a lake or stream, picking wildflowers along the way, carrying a bucket for whatever treasures you find along the way… and I don’t know about you, but having a duck accompany me would just be the best!!! I love this image and I’m sure I’ll use it again and again – so many possibilities.

Paper Cupcakes Sunday Afternoon (482x640)

My card was made for the Magical Monday Challenge at Paper Cupcakes  going on right now! Use any Paper Cupcakes image either newly purchased, one you have on hand, or one of the great freebies Nina has for you and create a project to fit your interpretation of the theme “The Dog Days of Summer” and have fun creating and reminiscing. And, there will be a prize too!

Christmas in July and some news....

My news first - I have been honored by being selected as part of the new DT members for Paper Cupcakes. Nina is the artist and she has some of the cutest digital images around - something for every occasion and personality, and while the cupcakes are really cute - there are many other style images as well. I can't wait to get started! Take a look HERE.

My card for today was made for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge this week "Christmas is July". If you are not familiar with them hop over and take a look - if you like shabby vintage, you'll love these challenges and, there's a lot of inspiration and talent.

The image is from my stash, the Holly DP is by Anna Griffin from Michael's, the CS is Bazzill - also from Michael's, the "JOY" sticker is by Melissa Francis from Emma's Paperie, and the seam binding is from my stash - I look for it at every thrift store I go into. Make sure you read the package, it has to be 100% rayon to make nice bows - once they started making the seambinding from polyester - it's just not the same.

Winged Things.....

My post today is for the Crafty Secrets Challenge on Splitcoast to create something using something with wings. I chose a CS Creative Scraps image of this sweet bird with a nest and blue eggs - these kind of images just melt my heart. The pattern papers are also from Crafty Secrets except for the music - that's from my personal stash of ephemera. The doily paper is by Basic Grey and the paper matting the image is from Prima - the Raspberry Tea Collection from Emma's Paperie.

I hand dyed and scrunched the vintage seam binding and added a large pearl from one of the many brands available at Michael's, distressed all the edges with brown ink, and did some zig zag stitching.

I hope you enjoy.

Kahlua Beans....

Yum! These are my favorite summer beans. My recipe card is for the Craft Secrets Challenge on Splitcoast HERE

Yes, I do know how to spell Kahlua - but after all that work I was not going back!
I like the way it turned out as I really wanted to make something that I could repeat multiple times for an actual recipe book and of course there has to be a little bling. Papers are from CS Earthy pack, stamp is from CS "French Mail", the gem is by Recollections from Michael's and I colored it with a Sharpie marker to get the right color. The corner punch is by EK Success and is also from Michael's. The lined paper was created with Word in brown, and the edges ink distressed with brown.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy....

Are you acquainted with Paper Cupcakes? If not, take and look and be inspired. They have some of the cutest and sweetest digital images around, and....if you are interested they are starting up a DT. Go HERE for the details.

I could not pass up this image - even tho we are a long ways from Christmas, this little snowman just caught my eye. I'm thinking of doing him again in some lighter more vintagy looking colors and papers, and then maybe some from last years Cosmo Cricket in pinks and blues. Just look at his hat and shoes - love them!! They have a LOT of images for all occasions. Check the site out HERE!

I have also entered this (at Peggy's suggestion - thanks Peggy) to the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long (CSAYL) Challenge.

Take care,
Dru
