Red, White, and Blue...

That's the challenge for our Designing D.I.V.A.S Blog Group on Splitcoast. Since I have been working on the banners for the Keri's shop - Lake Tahoe Holidays, I decided I would post some of the new ones. I hope you enjoy them. And, before I forget, I'm sorry I've been so slow at blogging recently. There's been a lot of changes going on - all for the better. I finally quit my other job as Privacy Officer for an orthopedic clinic and have started working with Keri in her shop - and loving it!!!! I only work a few hours a week and along with that I've been able to get things at our business really organized which is giving me more time to do the things I love - papercrafting. My goal is to become even more involved in the field shortly.





And my favorite of course - a little more shabby vintage look.

Ratatattat.....

This is one of Mo's new images - she has so many beautiful images, it's hard for me to get to them all. I have several now just sitting on my desk calling my name while I run out the door to the shop or to the ortho clinic I work for, etc. This week has been hectic to say the least. My in-laws were here all day Monday and yesterday I had to run to Reno to get parts for a customer's vehicle - when really, all I want to do is sit and create. " It's a constant battle - but I digress. Mo's images - truly you are missing something special if you don't pop over to her blog HERE and take a look. The detail is amazing.

I used Bazzil CS, Ol' Glory DP by Rusty Pickle, Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencils blended with OMS, star punches, a button from my stash, button twine from PaperTrey, and a little stickles to accent one of the stars.

Never Forget.....

Solemn words, but oh so true. We never want to forget our fallen or standing heroes, sheroes, their families,and the losses we have seen.



This ATC was created for my Secret Sister in our SCS Blog Group, the Designing D.I.V.A.S. The shop I supply here in town is opening an extension shop for the summer near the lakefront and probably the biggest display she is going to have is Americana. So, I have been making banners, tags, placques, etc. for awhile now in the Americana theme. I had never made an ATC before although I have seen many and always wanted to, so this was the perfect opportunity and since I'm in the Americana mode, that's what I went with.

Take care, take time to remember and appreciate those who have given their lives for us and those who are still fighting to keep us free, because freedom is never really free.

Red, White, and Blue.....

....that's the theme for our Designing D.I.V.A.S Blog group challenge. I'm also posting for the group challenge to alter an item in a holiday theme. Just so happens I'm working on items for the shop here in town. She's going to be opening another little shop at Camp Richardson for the summer and wants quite a bit of Americana.



First is the altered item in a holiday theme. The holiday is Memorial Day, 4th of July, anything patriotic. The item altered is the star on the back of the ornament. I save boxes made of thin chipboard to make alphabet letters, stars, hearts, etc. anything I need a little more substance for than card stock offers.



The second item is for the red, white, and blue challenge. This is a smaller banner than the one posted the other day. This is only 3 flags and goes much quicker. I want to make a few different designs so they do not all look the same.

I think I'm catching up with the challenges. I still have the birthday card, and now the ATC. Soon, very soon.....

Celebrate Freedom America...

...no, this is not a political post. I am priviledged to be able to create cards and tags, etc. for one of Lake Tahoe's South Shore gift shops, Lake Tahoe Holidays. She really does have the most beautiful shop in town - if you are ever up this way it will be well worth a stop. I go in there just to be around all the beautiful items she carries. She has something for every holiday and occasion along with having this amazingly great eye for decor. Her prices are unbelieveable - she feels as I do - to always have something beautiful and affordable for every budget. In these times, that's even more important. You will love it if you ever get up this way, I believe some of you live nearby, and then of course this IS one of the vacation hot spots.

Not only that, but she stretches me - things that I have wanted to "find" the time for are now something I "will" find the time for because she has requested them for her shop. One of the new items Keri has requested is a banner (and now several more) for her Americana section, along with Halloween, babies, etc. So here is the first of many to come. I had such fun putting this together for her. I was not company specific on this. I used supplies from Crafty Secrets, Prima, ScrapSmart, Michael's, etc. etc. The banner spells out "Freedom". Next time I would like to use a little more stamping, and have already made some purchases.

Along with the banners, She has requested paper crowns for brides and birthday parties. I'm very excited as I love new challenges and as I said before I have been wanting to create some of these very things.
