I love the ocean don't you? I love the smells, the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore, the seagulls silent flight overhead (and sometimes not so silent), building sandcastles, little boys and girls with their sand pails and shovels. This image reminds me of my daughter when she was small - one of our favorite places to be was on a beach somewhere. The lake is beautiful here in Tahoe as well and the water is so blue it's breathtaking and we have these wonderful Canadian geese that love to stop by and visit, have a snack, and take a nap.
My card today is for the Crafty Secrets Challenge using distressing techniques. I have distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distress tool and ink. The image is from Crafty Secrets "Seaside Memories", the CS and button twine are from Papertrey Ink, the DP is from the "Fly a Kite" collection by October Afternoon. I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS, pearls from Ellen Hutson which I colored with a Copic, I Kan Dee Chalk, and a shell from my beach wanderings.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Cottage Comfort....
My card today is for the Challenge #15 at The Shabby Tearoom "Cottage Comfort".
I chose the colors from the photo for my take on this challenge.
Here's a close up of the floral embellishment. I gathered a length of lace trim, added a flower and a pearl center. I hand dyed in varigated colors and scrunched the seam binding to get the "look" I wanted, and of course added glitter.
I keep a little terra cotta dish in my front yard for the birds to drink and bathe in and am rewarded with much enjoyment watching the little sweeties go about their day.
Take Care,
Dru

Red, White, and Blue...
That's the challenge for our Designing D.I.V.A.S Blog Group on Splitcoast. Since I have been working on the banners for the Keri's shop - Lake Tahoe Holidays, I decided I would post some of the new ones. I hope you enjoy them. And, before I forget, I'm sorry I've been so slow at blogging recently. There's been a lot of changes going on - all for the better. I finally quit my other job as Privacy Officer for an orthopedic clinic and have started working with Keri in her shop - and loving it!!!! I only work a few hours a week and along with that I've been able to get things at our business really organized which is giving me more time to do the things I love - papercrafting. My goal is to become even more involved in the field shortly.
And my favorite of course - a little more shabby vintage look.
Hugs to you all and I hope you enjoy your day.
