Brown Paper Packages Tied Up with String…

These are a few of my favorite things. “Tied Up with String” is the theme for the December Blog Hop hosted by Papertrey  on Nicole Heady’s blog at Capture the Moment and I’m so excited to be able to play along as it’s something I’m seldom able to do. I was making a gift bag for my husband for Christmas and it just fit right in.

100_7019 (640x531)

The Christmas tree die cut from peeled corrugated cardboard, the button twine, gift card holder die cut, star tag die cut, and “Merry” die cut are all from Papertrey Ink. The paper is older from my stash, and every year I paint and glitter an assortment of jingle bells ~ just because I love them so much. The feather is a free download from The Craftcake Mama blog. You just print out the patterns on the paper of your choice, cut them out and you’re good to go!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you the best in the New Year.

Joy to You and Yours

and a Merry Merry Christmas to any of you who may pass by here today. My last Christmas card to post for the year. And I’ll be hooking up with Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound a little later in the week. I truly do hope this Christmas Holiday season is bringing you joy.

Christmas Greetings

With Jingle Bells – that’s the current Challenge #190 at City Crafter Challenge Blog. As almost all my Christmas cards, etc. have jingle bells this was definitely something I could work with. They are definitely my go to embellishment for Christmas projects painted and glittered of course. You can see it tucked just under the bow there and a better look in the 2nd photo.

100_7009 (471x640)

100_7010 (589x640)

Background paper is digital from Iralamijashop, the image I found at Michael’s – it’s a rub on and comes in a package of 4 different images all sparkly and pretty already. The tiny tag is from Papertrey as are the buttons, I used gold metallic thread for the machine stitching, baker’s twine, etc.

There’s still plenty of time to play along if you’d like. It’s a fun challenge site.

My wish for you is a Happy Holiday Season and a Merry Merry Christmas.

Believe…

It is so cold here right now. We’ve lived here many years and this is the coldest it’s been –1 degrees. I know… a lot of you live in much colder areas, but for us this is really cold. Our normal is maybe 12-14. Don’t get me wrong I love it! We moved here because of the weather – I’m just saying…

Anyway, I’m joining a favorite site today Ivy and Elephants ~ a wonderful blog for sharing and receiving inspiration for home and family. Take a peek, I know you’ll enjoy it.

A sweet vintage image with children who could be playing right out front in our area of the woods. The image is from a collage sheet by Janet at By Digital Paper.

My wish for you is that you’re having a wonderful Holiday Season and Merry Christmas to all of you as well.

Take care,

Joyeux Noel

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and now we’re on to Christmas. I’ve been busy working with the Holiday shop here in town, Lake Tahoe Holidays, and trying to get a bit of time to work on some Christmas cards of my own. I’m joining in with Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge #75 – Vintage Christmas. Also, the same theme for Craft Room Challenge and Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #85 Bingo – I picked white, image, and glitter along with of course ribbon and other bling

Gather Together

Autumn is my most favorite time of the year ~ the crispness of the air, the leaves turning to the most beautiful colors and whirling around in the breeze forming a mosaic of colors, the coziness of warm fires, the smells of the first fires in fireplaces around the neighborhood, baking apples and pumpkin, warm sweaters and boots. And of course Thanksgiving ~ gathering with family and friends and remembering to be thankful for all that we have.

Life is a dance and most times a whirl and so my little blog is sorely neglected. But, I’ve a couple of things to share with those of you who continue to visit ~ just one of the things I am thankful for. I hope you you enjoy

An Autumn banner encouraging us to “Gather”

A banner for a sweet customer – I probably will never learn how to get a good photo of a longer banner, but if you click on it – it will come up a little bit larger.

Quoth the Raven ~ Nevermore!

I’ve been working a bit with Edgar Allan Poe themed projects for Halloween this year along with some other pieces and thought I would share them with you and also take part in RRR’s Challenge #81 Fall or Halloween with Ribbon. I made these prior to my recent ribbon order so while none of the ribbon used is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, if you have not checked them out ~ you must. Great ribbon at great prices and I love all the variety offered.

Autumn Greetings

Once again, it’s been over a month between postings. This time of  year as for so many others is the busiest for me as I’m working on Autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and all the custom orders in between ALL at the same time. We won’t even go into what my work space looks like right now ~ and it’s encroaching into other parts of my home. Thank goodness for a supportive and understanding husband.

It’s Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound hosted by Beverly. I love taking part in this and if you are unfamiliar with Pink Saturday, hop on over and take a look – you will not be disappointed. This week’s theme is Fall or Pink or Pink Fall and so I’ve opted for Fall with this card that even though I say so myself  - I do love it in all it’s parts

100_6095 (491x640)

Some new tags

100_6809 (640x585)

100_6802 (640x631)

And a custom order “blessings” banner for a special customer – you’ll need to click on the photo to bring it up bigger so you can actually see it – I have not mastered (or maybe it could be my equipment) fitting in an entire banner in a size that’s seeable even after cropping etc. in my photo editing program ;-(

Things With Wings and Ribbon and Happy Pink Saturday!

That’s the new Challenge #77 at Really Reasonable Ribbon. You still have time to play, so pop on over and take a look. Fun challenges. Both of my cards feature storks ~ such beautiful birds with majestic wings and I love these vintage images. Some of the ribbon I have used is also from Really Reasonable Ribbon ~ they have lots of variety and great prices. I’m also hooking up with Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound ~ this is a fun site if you love pink ~ a lot of great inspiration and a lot of great talent. Take a moment to enjoy. Also, the Friday Flea.

100_6755 (485x640)

and…

100_6753 (539x640)

Images are from Iralamija Shop and I believe the floral background paper is also, “baby” stamp and heart border die are both from Papertrey Ink, the flower I made from cutting felt in circles, then tucking in and gluing tiny scraps of crochet trim, adding a button and pearl to the center. I’ve made a few of these over the years, but this is one of my favorites – I think it’s the soft monochromatic color.

Sizzlin Summer Colors and Ribbon

That’s the Challenge #76 currently over at Really Reasonable Ribbon. A bit out of my color comfort zone, but found that I really loved these bright juicy colors together. There’s still time to play so take a look.

100_6672 (640x283)

Just a simple little summer banner in shades of turquoise, orange, and sunny yellow – the colors are actually quite a bit more vibrant than they seem to show up here – my photo skills are not always what I would like Winking smile.

Hope you’re having a happy summer!!

Summer Sea Sand and Children

I love these images bought from Vintage Image Madness and I absolutely love them ~ soft colors, vintage, beautifully illustrated and I thought they would make a lovely garland. I think they did. One will go to Lake Tahoe Holidays here in town and one into my Etsy shop. I cannot seem to take a good close up of an entire banner, but if you click on it ~ you can get a closer look.

Hooking up to Challenge #75 “Anything but a card and ribbon” at Really Reasonable Ribbon. Please check them out ~ I love everything I have purchased from them ~ great variety and great prices!!

The 1st one

100_6661 (640x320)

100_6667 (640x615)

100_6662 (640x480)

100_6663 (640x480)

And the 2nd one

100_6657

100_6659

I used my own hand-dyed and crinkled seam binding, on the 2nd one adding natural button twine, shells, faux pearls and rhinestones and of course glitter to accent.

Take care

Happy Anniversary in Red White & Blue

My work is and has been for many years now sold in a local shop Lake Tahoe Holidays here in town. Over the years, the owner Keri and I have become friends, and last year they celebrated their 10th anniversary – July 4th. I created this for them and am just now sharing it. Hooking up with How Sweet the Sound hosted by Beverly for Pink Saturday’s “Let’s Celebrate”!! I’m also hooking up to Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #75 “Anything but a Card, and Ribbon” They posted the challenge one day after I posted this ~ but I’m hooking up anyway (rules are there is no back posting ~ but again, I’m not really interested in winning anything, just want to take part.

Red White & Blue Forever

Ellen Clapsaddle is one of my most favorite artists ever. I use a lot of her images in my work and never tire of seeing them, touching them, glittering them, and surrounding them with bits and pieces of vintageness – is that a word?  What I do know of her is very little, but she is one I would have loved to have met and soak in as much of her artistic mind as possible. I hope in some small and humble way, my work is a tribute to her.

I made these a few weeks back and had not posted them yet, so it has worked out well, as Really Reasonable Ribbon is having a new challenge using polka dots and as luck would have it, I had recently purchased some polka dot ribbon from them that I used one the first one of my projects. If you haven’t had an opportunity to visit their shop, please do so as their ribbon really IS reasonable and they have a beautiful and varied selection.

100_6603 (530x640)

…and one more, although it does not have polka dots – however it does have the lovely stripe ribbon from them ~ they have some great ribbons for your patriotic projects. ~ I ordered several others besides what you see here – really some cute ones for babies.

100_6591 (504x640)

And as I do not know when I will be posting again, a couple more items I’ve made this season, both for Lake Tahoe Holidays and my own Etsy shop.
